How do I change my day status?
There are three ways to change your day status. Firstly you can click on the day you wish your status to be changed and in the “Show this day as” drop down select the required status, and remember to then press "Apply".
Another way is to use thebutton, if you use this you can add specific details about a booking for yourself just like a booker can, this is useful if you have received a booking directly via phone and you want to keep your diary up to date.
The third method is to use the book function via SMS, please refer to the SMS section for the relevant codes.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
How do I add my skills and why is it important?
To access your skill select thebutton, from there you can select your skills in each of the professions you have and then rate yourself in each of the skills. If you do not add any skills you will not show on any searches that a booker may create.

Why can’t I just type my new skill myself?
We have decided to standardise freelancer skills for AV Booker so that when a booker is searching for a freelancer they can't miss you out because you spelt a skill differently to another person.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
What do the levels of competence stand for?
We have selected 5 levels of competency, this is for freelancers to evaluate themselves when they are selecting their skills. Freelancers should be as honest as possible when selecting their competency because you will only create a bad reputation for yourself if you don’t! Here is how the levels of competency work:
Level 1 BEGINNER
Lowest level, this is for freelancers who have just started in this competency but feel they can still perform the task.
Level 2 INTERMEDIATE
Freelancers have consistently used this competency to complete their roll but may require assistance on occasions.
Level 3 PROFESSIONAL
Freelancers can perform this competency quickly and efficiently.
Level 4 EXPERT
Other freelancers often contact you for advice in this competency and you can usually exceed expectations in this area.
Level 5 GURU
Highest level, this is usually the freelancers core competency.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
What can I upload to the CV Section?
You are allowed to upload the following file extensions: .doc, .pdf, .mpg, .rtf, .mov, .wmv. AV Booker would appreciate you keeping your files below 10 meg. Your files can be downloaded by registered bookers only and saved on their PC.
If you update your CV/Showreel simply upload the new one and even if the file names don’t match, your old file will be replaced. If you have uploaded your CV/Showreel and wish for it to be removed then simply e-mail AV Booker at CustomerService@AVBooker.com letting us know your name and membership number and we will remove it for you.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
What are preferred bookers and why should I use this feature?
Preferred bookers are the clients that you most want to work for. Due to this you should set them up as a preferred booker for two reasons; the first is that when you add them as a preferred booker we will send them an e-mail to say they are lucky enough to be a preferred booker of yours. Secondly you can then set-up the “auto accept” function, this will automatically accept any jobs from that booker which fall within the criteria of your “acceptance window” settings and if you want to be informed of weekend work before accepting. To access your preferred bookers, select thebutton.

What is an acceptance window?
The acceptance window is used to define when you want AV Booker to auto accept jobs from preferred bookers on your behalf. The amount of days selected represent how many days there are between the booking being requested and the actual booking.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
Can people see who have booked me?
No, if you have your diary visible it will be a “restricted view”. This means that any booker who looks at your diary will only see if you are available or not, they won't be able to see any details of your bookings. If you want to see what a booker sees then click the button.Back to top I Back to FAQ Homepage
What are buddies and why should I have them?
Buddies are there for you to show who you work closely with in the professions you work in, they are meant to provide a little piece of mind for your clients in the event that you are unavailable for a booking. All freelancers have had the call from a client to try and book them on a job they cant do, usually the clients next question is “do you know anyone that may be available?”. That is where the buddies come in, they are the people whose phone numbers you would have handed out. To add a buddy click thebutton, then add their e-mail address. If they are on the AV Booker database their details will already be filled in, if they are not already there fill in the relevant information and if they register after they will then appear with you when a booker searches for “preferred freelancers and buddies”. Whether they are registered or not we will e-mail them to let them know you trust them to be one of your buddies.
